This thought-provoking discussion will explore various topics relevant to the future of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The panel will feature Fiona Wu, Liora Bercovitch, and Sam Macintosh as speakers, with Anna Cho serving as the chairperson.
During the session, the panellists will delve into emerging concepts and trends shaping the field. They will touch upon areas such as the influence of tikanga in arbitration, the impact of AI and ChatGPT on ADR processes, and the growing importance of cybersecurity in the digital age.

Anna Cho
Associate Dentons Kensington Swan | Co-Chair of Young AMINZ
Anna is an Associate within the Dentons Kensington Swan’s Major Projects and Construction team. She has acted for contractors, developers, consultants, suppliers and insurers in all forums of dispute resolution, in particular adjudications and arbitrations. Anna is a Fellow AMINZ(Arb) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (CIArb, UK), and a co-chair of Young AMINZ
Sam Macintosh
Associate Wynn Williams | Co-Chair of Young AMINZ
Sam Macintosh is an Associate at Wynn Williams in the civil litigation team. His areas of practice focus on complex commercial dispute resolution, including advising clients on disputes involving commercial contracts, company and competition law issues, statutory liability, commercial property and leases, and insolvency. Sam has experience appearing as sole and junior counsel before courts and tribunals and in alternative dispute resolution. Sam is currently the Co-Chair of Young AMINZ and is an assistant editor to the Kluwer Arbitration Blog for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
Before joining Wynn Williams Sam worked with the New Zealand Law Society’s national regulatory team, and later as a research and policy analyst in Parliament. In 2019 Sam competed in the Willem C. Vis Moot as part of the Victoria University of Wellington team, placing 5th globally. The Moot focuses on issues of international commercial arbitration and the sale of goods across borders.
Fiona Wu
Solicitor Meredith Connell | LLB(Hons)/BA
Fiona is a solicitor in the Criminal Proceeds Recovery team. She acts for the Commissioner of Police in High Court civil proceedings and also acts for the Crown in criminal prosecutions.
Prior to joining MC in March 2022, Fiona worked at a well-known boutique public law firm where she worked on judicial reviews, proceedings under the Marine and Coastal Area Act, and regulatory compliance. She has also previously worked for the Office of the Health and Disability Commissioner and in criminal defence.
Liora Bercovitch
Senior Associate at Chapman Tripp
Liora is a Senior Associate at Chapman Tripp specialising in commercial litigation and dispute resolution. She frequently advises on corporate disputes, privacy and data protection issues, and regulatory matters, and is involved in resolution processes both in and out of Court. Liora’s Master of Laws focused on civil procedure and alternative dispute resolution, with a particular interest in civil justice issues and how Court and ADR processes can best enhance access to justice.
